Hiring a Wix Website Designer in 2026

While Wix is a great editor and is great for DIY changes, designing the entire website from scratch or even from a template is daunting for many people and businesses. Hiring an expert Wix Web Designer is a great way to get a quality, professional website setup and fully designed that you can be trained to easily edit and update over time. Working with a professional Wix designer will result in a high-quality, professional alternative to generic DIY templates – and will reflect your brand, colors and vision.

If you like working directly with a designer, rather than an entire agency, you've come to the right place. My name is Idelle Fisher and Picklewix.com is my business. With 20+ years of experience, I've designed Wix websites for hundreds of clients over recent years, from big companies to small businesses including: non-profits, landscape designers, garden shops, seed companies, farms, artists, restaurants, lawyers, roofers, and best-selling authors. I love working directly with small business owners to custom design a beautiful website that looks great across all screens and can be found in search engines and AI chatbots.

When we work together we can talk on the phone, meet in person if you're local in Colorado. I can present concepts and review designs with clients using screenshares through Zoom, Google Meet and other phone video-conferencing options. I work with clients all around the world, so no matter where you are, I'm happy to discuss your needs.

How to Choose a Wix Designer

  1. Review Portfolios: Look for past projects that match your desired aesthetic and functionality. See some of my Best Wix Websites to get an idea of my design range.

  2. Verify Certifications: Ensure they are a "Wix Partner" or certified through the Wix Marketplace. I am a certified Wix Partner!

  3. Check Reviews: Prioritize designers with high ratings and specific feedback on their communication and adherence to deadlines. You'll find lots of postive reviews about me on my Wix Marketplace listing, and I also have lots of client referrals if desired.

  4. Ensure that Mobile optimization is a priority, as some designers don't do due diligence on customizing phone page layouts for optimal user experience.

  5. Confirm Deliverables: Clarify if the quote includes SEO, mobile responsiveness, photos, custom writing, or website editing training. I typically offer these services standard in all my website design estimates, but can adjust to client budgets or work in phases if needed.

  6. Speak to the Wix Designer on the phone (or meet them in person) before hiring them: Sometimes personalities work better together than others, and you can gauge a lot more from how you and a designer can work together by talking to them versus doing everything by email. I often meet with my clients over Zoom as well as have phone calls – not for every step of the process necessarily, but for initial meetings and introductions, or for presentations or reviews of concepts and feedback. Sometimes it's nice to talk things through!

  7. Confirm that Wix Designer has experience with SEO: SEO (search engine optimization) is equally as important as a well-designed website if you want to be found online. Wix offers lots of basic SEO options which I offer as a standard when designing and building websites, but I also offer SEO consultations that include research, writing, and complete optimization of pages, as well as generation of ongoing SEO content so that you can compete for more general and competitive terms. It is good to have a website designer like myself who is also an expert at SEO so that the website can be built optimized for SEO from the get-go. SEO is a long-term game, so it's best to apply the best SEO tactics and write new quality content over the long-run to help your website get found.

If you choose to put your website on Wix, you won't be disappointed. It's a great platform, and it's super easy to use for updating and edits over time. Do yourself a favor, though, and hire a professional Wix Designer to get the website built initially – as you'll get a custom & well-designed, responsive website that looks great across all devices, and is optimized to be found online. I specialize in direct one-on-one collaboration with small business owners, and I'd love to work with you!
