Converting InDesign File to Black and White

Here is how to very quickly convert an Indesign file by exporting as a PDF and using Adobe Acrobat's Convert Colors tool. Watch the video above or read the directions below:

First, export your InDesign file as a PDF
Use Adobe Acrobat to convert it to grayscale. Here's where to find it in Adobe Acrobat: Open the sidebar Tools > and click view more to find Use Print Production > Convert Colors > Convert Colors to Output Intent - And find the Grayscale profiles at the bottom of the list: Gray Gamma 1.8 / 2.2 Choose "Preserve Black" and "Promote Gray to CMYK Black" options if desired.
Save your PDF!
This is a very quick way to get a client a black and white file if needed without having to edit all the colors and elements in InDesign. Ideally, I will create a custom black and white version in InDesign, but for a quick turnaround this works in a jiffy!
