Graphic Designer Tip: Sharing Large Files

As a Graphic Designer and Web Designer, I have clients that need to send me images and other files that are too large to email. Below are a couple free services that allow you to send large files to anyone via email:

Google Drive

You need a gmail account, but can upload and then “Share” folders, files and zipped archives with me. This allows for up to 15GB of files, so plenty of free space!

To Upload and Share a zipped file, a folder or image from Google Drive:

  1. Open Google Drive and ensure you're logged into your Google account.

  2. Click the "+New" button on the left hand side and upload your video from your computer. ...

  3. Click on the video file once to highlight it.

  4. Right-click on the file name to open a menu of options.

  5. Click "Get shareable link" in the top right of the "Share with others" box.

  6. To choose whether a person can view, comment, or edit the file, click the Down arrow next to “Anyone with the link."

  7. Then email the link!

Alternative:

Another free file sending service is wetransfer.com — it sends up to 2GB for free to any email. It is a temporary link, and does not store files long-term.
