What's the Best Website Builder in 2019?
As a long-time Website Designer, (having designed websites for over 16 years!), I believe that in 2019, there is a clear front-runner in website builders – Wix.
I've designed in Wordpress, Joomla, Dreamweaver, Shopify, Squarespace, and tons of other platforms over the past 16 years, and none of them compare to the Wix editor. I discovered Wix about 6 years ago, after it had converted from Flash to HTML5. The first time I used it, I fell in love, it seemed to good to be true. And now, 6 years later, I still love the platform. My clients love it, too. It's easy to use, and great to design in. It's mobile-friendly, and you have full control over the mobile view (which is NOT the case with Wordpress and other website platforms' responsive layouts, which I find are difficult to control as desired, especially if you don't code!). The Wix platform is amazing, it's wonderful for Website Designers such as myself as we can use the tool like we used to use Photoshop, you can design right in the Wix editor! So, while I still use Photoshop and Illustrator for designing and creating graphics or images for the website, I can design my text blocks, headlines, image placements, slideshows, video, etc right in the editor. So rather than having to design, then build the website, I design and build it all at once, saving lots of time. Building as I design the site also helps me figure out the user interface design quickly by building in interactivity, mobile-friendly layouts, etc as I go. I can also optimize everything for SEO as I build out the pages. This allows me to design websites for clients with smaller budgets, as I don't have to charge for so much extra time as I do with Wordpress, Squarespace, and other platforms that require coding.
Wix is also great for businesses! My clients love the easy-to-use platform, especially after we do a quick Wix training on their Wix website so they can easily add pages, add blog posts, add images and videos, edit images, do their own SEO, and so much more.
While I don't think Wix is great to design a website from scratch for everyone, especially those who aren't computer lovers, or those who find it hard to design – it is still easy to make edits to a Wix website that is built for you. So even if you aren't excited by the idea of designing your own website from scratch or from a Wix template, or you were overwhelmed after starting the process – you can still hire a Wix Designer to build your website, and who can then train you how to make ongoing updates and edits. Designing can be challenging for some, so why not leave the design part up to a designer who can work with you to create the best website that you can then keep updated going forward. Most of our clients that we put on Wix do their own updates after our Wix training session, which is great! For some clients, like Author Sandra Dallas, we do her updates for her. She just sends emails to us with what she wants updated along with email newsletter text, and then we build her email newsletters, update her email archive on her website, add appearances, etc on a quarterly basis. So with Wix it's possible to design your website, or hire someone else to design it, and then you can get trained or have any of your staff trained to make ongoing edits going forward.
As part of our Wix Website Design services, we offer SEO (Search Engine Optimization), which helps your website get found online in Google, Bing, and other search engines.
