Shopify vs. Wix - A Website Designer's Recommendation


As a Denver Website Designer, I design both in Wix and Shopify.

Wix does have online store options including Wix Stores and Ecwid, but they’re not quite as complex or customizable from an ecommerce/options/shipping/taxes standpoint as Shopify stores. Wix is good for beginner stores that have simple needs, whereas Shopify is better for more complex online selling needs. Shopify is more customizable for online stores, but Wix is a lot better for easy editing of the page designs so you can customize every page and make it look polished. Shopify uses page templates so it’s harder to design nice looking custom sub-pages, and Shopify also costs more as a lot of design customization for the homepage and overall template have to be done via coding which takes more time.
